Fair Play: Bellring Issues First Penalties for Temporary Teaming

·metamist editorial

Bellring Games issued its first round of matchmaking suspensions for 'Frequent Temporary Teaming in Matches' on August 21, 2026, after a community poll in which over 80% of players backed penalising the behaviour. Repeat offenders face progressively longer suspensions.

What happened

After weeks of player reports and a community poll — in which over 80% of Gyldhunters agreed the behaviour should be penalised — Bellring issued the first round of penalties for temporary teaming on August 21, 2026. A redacted list of penalised accounts was published alongside the announcement.

What counts as temporary teaming

Bellring defines it as players from different squads who repeatedly team up over a period of time, refrain from attacking each other, and jointly focus third-party players. Penalised accounts receive a matchmaking suspension, with repeat offenders facing progressively longer bans.

Bellring said it will not disclose the exact detection criteria to keep the system effective, but confirmed it has built targeted filters for cases like stopping ongoing fights and multi-party engagements. Occasional, incidental temporary teaming will not be penalised.

What this means for players

Solo queue in Brandrgarde should feel fairer as enforcement ramps up. If you run into suspected teaming or cheating in a match, use the in-game report tool — Bellring now sends a feedback email when a report you filed leads to action, so reporting is worth the few seconds it takes.
