August 28 Update: Season Task Grind Cut Down, Oceania Server Added

·metamist editorial

The August 28 maintenance update delivered the progression rework promised in DevNote #8 — lower task difficulty, fewer tedious task types, and higher daily rewards — alongside a new Oceania server and another broad class balance pass.

Progression rework

Season Task and Contract Task difficulty reduced across the board

Kill requirements lowered; 'execution' requirements changed to 'defeats' (you no longer need the finisher)

Equipment restrictions on tasks relaxed

Several tedious task types removed entirely

Daily Task rewards increased from 30 to 40 Sigils

This is the restructuring Bellring committed to after apologising for the 152-task season grind in DevNote #8.

Oceania server

A dedicated Oceania server region was added, cutting ping significantly for players in Australia and New Zealand who had been routing to Asia or NA West since launch.

Class balance

Another broad pass touching Mercenary, Withered Knight, Shadowstrix, and Sorcerer — continuing the pattern of separate solo and trio tuning. See the in-client patch notes for the full per-skill list.

Fair play enforcement

This update continued the Fair Play crackdown on 'frequent temporary teaming' — coordinated non-engagement between squads — that Bellring opened with its first penalty wave on August 21. Over 80% of surveyed players supported penalising it. Repeat offenders receive matchmaking suspensions with progressively longer durations, and redacted penalty lists are published each round.

What this means for players

If the season grind pushed you away in the first few weeks, this is the patch to return for — the task list is genuinely faster to clear now. Oceania players finally have a native region. The teaming crackdown should make solo queue in Brandrgarde feel less rigged.
