DevNote #8: 1.5 Million Players, Seasonal Reset Rules, and the Season Task Overhaul
Bellring Games' eighth Developer Update reported roughly 1.5 million players at launch, detailed exactly what a seasonal reset wipes versus what carries over, apologised for the 152-task season grind, and teased the Blackarrow's upcoming Javelin weapon.
Launch by the numbers
Bellring acknowledged roughly 1.5 million players at launch. The team said the priority for the rest of Season 1 is server optimisation — reducing latency and combat hitching — followed by progression pacing.
Seasonal reset: what resets, what carries over
Bellring laid out the seasonal wipe framework explicitly. Season-specific progression — season level, seasonal currencies, and season task progress — resets at the end of Season 1. Account-level progression, unlocked cosmetics, and core account points carry over. The goal is a fresh economy each season without erasing the identity you've built.
Season Task overhaul
Bellring apologised for the sheer volume of Season Tasks — 152 in total — and said the structure was overwhelming rather than rewarding. A restructuring pass was promised, which arrived in the August 28 update: reduced kill requirements, execution requirements changed to defeats, fewer tedious task types, and higher daily rewards.
Blackarrow Javelin teased
The DevNote teased a new melee weapon branch for the Blackarrow — a Javelin that shares some skills with the Bow and is designed to let the class fight at close range before switching back to ranged. No release date; it is expected in a later season.
What this means for players
If you were holding off on the season grind, the August 28 restructuring makes it far less punishing — that is the patch to come back for. The reset rules mean cosmetic and account progress is safe to chase now; season currency is not.
