Maps
Every region has multiple corruption tiers layered on top of the same map — the terrain stays familiar, but the pressure, gear requirements, and what's allowed in your bag all change with it.

Hallowgrove
No shrinking zone — built for exploring, not sprinting
Hallowgrove skips the usual closing safe-zone entirely, so there's no clock forcing you toward the center. That makes it the map most people recommend starting on — you can take your time looting, scouting the Divine Anchor and the surrounding ruins, and learning enemy patterns without a wall of corruption chasing you down.
The forest is calm enough that a mistake usually costs you time, not your run.
The same forest, but the corruption has taken hold — expect tougher, more aggressive enemies and areas that no longer behave the way they did in Normal.

Brandrgarde
A collapsed fortress with a real countdown
Brandrgarde is the ruins of a northern military stronghold, and unlike Hallowgrove it does close in over time — the Gyldenmist steadily eats into the map, so runs here move faster and punish hesitation more than exploration does. The layout rewards knowing its corridors and side-passages rather than pure caution.
A reasonable place to practice extraction routes before stepping up — enemy pressure stays manageable, but the closing zone still means you can't fully coast.
