Launch Meta Report: Where the Classes Stand After Two Weeks
Two weeks and three balance patches into launch, the Mistfall Hunter meta has moved a long way from the beta. Here is how each class is performing live, which beta predictions held, and what the patch trend tells us about where balance is heading.
The short version
The beta call that Shadowstrix would dominate PvP was correct — but Bellring has been chipping at it every patch (Super Armor duration cut on August 12, Free Movement wind-up added on August 19). Withered Knight, written off in the beta as hard to pilot, has been buffed in nearly every patch and is now one of the strongest picks in both Greatsword and Polearm & Shield. Blackarrow launched overtuned and has been walked back twice. Sorcerer, Mercenary, and Seer sit in a healthy middle.
Class by class
Shadowstrix: still the PvP benchmark for duelling and pick potential, but no longer oppressive. The i-frame and Super Armor fixes on August 19 removed some of its cheesier escapes.
Withered Knight: the biggest winner of the launch window. Fully charged heavy strikes now grant Super Armor, cooldowns on Parry and Breakthrough Charge are down, and Withering Mark was reworked to be a genuine playmaking tool.
Blackarrow: still strong, but the impact-effect and charge nerfs mean it can no longer stunlock as reliably. Positioning matters more now.
Sorcerer: quietly consistent. The launch patch fixed several playstyle-blocking bugs (Stardust + Meteor Charm) and it plays smoothly now.
Mercenary: solid in trio, and the August 19 trio-mode cooldown buffs helped. PvP was trimmed in the same patch.
Seer: still underrated. Both the Catalyst healer and Mace bruiser paths are viable, and the class is rarely the target of nerfs.
What the patch trend tells us
Bellring is tuning solo and trio separately — the August 19 Mercenary changes nerfed PvP while buffing trio in the same patch. That means class rankings genuinely differ by mode, and a single blanket tier list is less useful than it was in the beta. DoT tick frequency was also reduced game-wide on August 12, which shifted several damage-over-time builds.
How to use this
If you are picking a first main, Withered Knight and Seer are the safest long-term bets — both are trending up or stable and neither is a nerf target. If you want to play the strongest PvP duelist and don't mind riding the patch cycle, Shadowstrix is still it. Our class tier list is updated per patch and split by mode where it matters.
