PvP vs PvE
Mercenary
The Mercenary is a brawler built to absorb punishment and dish out steady melee damage. You hold the front line, soak attention, and let teammates operate safely behind you. Two weapon branches — Sword & Shield for reactive defenders, Hammer for aggressive stun-brawlers — give you real flexibility. Neither branch is hard to pilot, making this the ideal entry class.

Role in a Group
Primary tank and disruptor. Your job is to hold the front line, apply crowd control with Shield Slam and Stonebreaker Slash, and use Shield Strike Taunt to pull aggro off your team. You don't need kills. You need to make sure your teammates can get kills safely.
