Guide

How to Play Swordpoint Mercenary

1. Close the distance

Use your mobility to get into melee range quickly.

Don't waste your defensive abilities while approaching unless you're being heavily pressured.

Your goal is to force the enemy into a close-range fight where your Swordpoint pressure shines.

2. Force them to react

Start applying pressure with your sword attacks rather than immediately dumping every ability.

Make the opponent panic, dodge, or use their defensive cooldowns.

Once they burn those resources, that's when you commit.

3. Use your shield defensively

Your shield is what separates this build from a pure melee DPS setup.

Block or defend against their big attacks instead of trying to out-DPS them.

After they finish a major attack or combo, immediately counterattack.

4. Swordpoint = punish windows

Think of Swordpoint as your opportunity to turn a defensive situation into offense.

A simple pattern is:

Engage → Pressure → Block/Defend → Enemy misses/commits → Swordpoint punish → Continue pressure

Don't blindly activate your strongest attacks. Wait for the enemy to give you an opening.

5. Don't chase forever

One of the biggest mistakes with melee builds is chasing a fleeing player across the map.

If they disengage:

Reset your position.

Recover your resources.

Look for a better angle.

Re-engage when you have your cooldowns.

You're much stronger when you choose when the fight happens.
