Guide
Overview
Bellring Games' official recommended beginner setup for Mercenary's Hammer spec, shared via the Mistfall Hunter Discord. It pairs Skullcrusher and Earthshaker with the Hammer Weapon Mastery, Earthshaker Enhancement, and Skullcrusher Enhancement talents for aggressive stun-brawling.
Skills
- Skullcrusher
- Earthshaker
Official Class Guide
Mercenaries are a common sight on battlefields across the continent, known for their robust physical condition and combat skills. They frequently engage enemies up close, utilizing their proficiency in weapons like Hammer, Sword and Shield. Their exceptional abilities in head-on fights make them a versatile force, equally effective in solo battles or as part of a team.
Solo vs Trio
Hammer's charge-based burst (Skullcrusher, Earthshaker) rewards positioning more than raw 1v1 dueling — community consensus is that this branch spikes hardest in trios, where a caught-standing-still enemy (mid-cast, reviving a teammate, or distracted) eats a full Level 2 charge for a near-guaranteed pickoff, especially paired with a Sorcerer or Reverent Seer locking a target down first. Solo, you're more reliant on baiting a dodge before committing to a charge, since there's no teammate crowd control to cover a whiffed Earthshaker.
Common Mistakes
- Charging Skullcrusher or Earthshaker in the open against a class with dash/teleport mobility — both are easy to sidestep without team CC backing you up.
- Standing still while charging instead of using the free movement this build's talents grant (Relentless Advance, Leap Step, Dynamic Charge) — you can move and dodge mid-charge, so use it.
- Getting stunned out of a charge instead of using the build's Super Armor windows to protect it.
